What makes a good task?

Describe the one thing you're focused on right now. It should be big enough to matter, but not so big that it feels vague or endless. Think in terms of something you can make meaningful progress on in a few days to a few weeks.

Examples:

  • ✔ “Organize my son’s 8th birthday party”
  • ✔ “Launch the first version of the app”
  • ✔ “Clean up my photo archive from the last 5 years”
  • ✖ “Build a startup” (too broad)
  • ✖ “Reply to an email” (too small)

Why write the reason?

This helps you stay honest and intentional. You don’t need a deep purpose, just say what made you pick this over everything else.

You can keep adding to this as you progress and gain more knowledge about the task. You can manage sub-tasks using task lists. Type / to access.

Examples:

  • ✔ “The birthday is next weekend, it can't wait.”
  • ✔ “I’ve been procrastinating and it’s starting to hurt.”
  • ✔ “I want to test the idea before committing more time.”

Try to avoid auto-pilot answers like “just because.” If you're unsure, write that too.
